Software / Electronics Engineer - 3 Month Paid Placement

Alba Orbital/PocketQube Shop is the world leader in PocketQube satellites and is one of the UK’s most innovative companies. We are looking to add a Software/Electronics Engineer, with an emphasis on coding, to our small team. You will be tasked with designing an open source GUI interface for our electronics dev board, The Labsat. This placement would best suit an early stage engineer preferably an existing Masters Degree or PhD student.
All candidates must be eligible for ESA’s Summer of Code program and enrolled in a University course within the EU.
Delivery of GUI portal for Labsat
Test and rapidly iterate the portal to add user requirements
The candidate must demonstrate
Electronics theory, covering power supply design
Manufacturing principles (SMD soldering, crimping, assembly)
Track record of delivering effective electronics projects from design to production
Willingness to continuously learn and overcome any obstacle put in their way
Innovation, Perseverance and a Genuine knowledge of and passion for Startups
Embedded system design
Communication protocols (I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, …)
Basic SW skills (C, python, scripting, linux)
Experience working on a Cubesat
Space Industry Experience
Successful candidate will be paid a stipend of €4k (EURO) directly from ESA for the 3 month project. The project will be based in Glasgow, Scotland.
