Project Manager/Senior Systems Engineer

Alba Orbital/PocketQube Shop is the world leader in PocketQube satellites and is one of the UK’s most innovative companies. We are looking to add a Senior Systems Engineer, with emphasis on Project Management, to our small, highly driven team. You will be tasked with satellite integration and the overall management and delivery of a major project developing the next generation PocketQube platform. This position would best suit an experienced project manager with a keen interest in NewSpace startups and agile aerospace.


  • Overall project management and delivery, ensuring adherence to the overall project timeline and internal deadlines

  • Satellite integration and cross-checking the compatibility of the designs of the various components

  • Operations and team management, setting and monitoring tasks and providing ongoing technical advisory to engineering team

  • Ensuring consumer feedback is integrated within the development at all stages

  • Continuously ensuring all designs and hardware being built satisfy space conditions

  • Main responsible for the finalisation, submission, flow and legibility of technical documentation

  • Implement an agile approach to development that does not affect the overall quality of the project

The candidate must demonstrate

  • Project management experience

  • Impeccable skills in time management and operational efficiency

  • Excellent leadership and teamworking skills - an ability to motivate and inspire

  • Good understanding of the regulations, processes and requirements of the satellite industry

  • Technical report writing to a high standard including interface documentation, manufacturing instructions, test reports and user manuals.

  • Willingness to continuously learn and overcome any obstacle put in their way

  • Innovation, Perseverance and a Genuine knowledge of and passion for Startups

  • EU or Schengen area Citizenship (we would be open to sponsoring suitable candidates)

Preferable Experience

  • Experience working on Space Agency projects (NASA, ESA, UKSA)

  • Budgeting and financial management expertise

  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) methodologies

  • Supply chain management experience

  • Risk analysis and crisis management expertise


£25-27k per annum, up to 18 Month contract based in Glasgow, position to fill ASAP.
